We know weddings are sold as being this day of perfection, where everything in the world goes exactly according to plan. You should not have one care in the world except those that pertain to the person you are about to pledge your forever to. We even have a hand in selling that dream, however, we share a disclaimer that comes with our promise.

Your wedding day happiness is all entirely based on your perspective. So, while nothing in life goes exactly as planned, we make every effort to be sure you are enjoying every moment of your wedding day. We speak with our couples about how to deal with unexpected wedding day stress. However, if we are doing our jobs correctly, you won’t care as much about what didn’t happen.
Below we are talking about a few instances where the day could have fallen apart. But because of the work done on the front end and the quick thinking in the moment, our couples were still on cloud nine at the end of their wedding night.
Half Empty, Half Full
The plan was to have this beautiful memorial table full of photos of the bride’s mother. We would usually request these items in advance, but that wasn’t a possibility this time. Unfortunately, the photos weren’t available on to us on wedding day, and the only person who could retrieve them was the bride who was already dressed.
Now, days prior we weren’t receiving a response from the bride’s stepfather. He had previously agreed to, along with the bride’s father, walk her down the aisle. Would you believe the stepfather showed up an hour before the wedding? Since we conducted a wedding rehearsal, the bride didn’t feel comfortable changing anything. We saw an opportunity to introduce an idea that offered a mutual remedy. We asked if her stepfather could stand in representation of her mother during the ceremony, especially since we didn’t have the photos for the memorial table. Everyone loved the idea and it may have made for a more memorable moment than the table would have been for this family.
Facetime Fix
We had a bride whose mother just days before the wedding, fell and hurt herself. Though she was okay, she wasn’t comfortable flying after her fall. The bride understood but would have given anything to have her mother in attendance. The bride’s sister stood in for their mom, and with the bride’s permission, was able to facetime the ceremony for mom. This was tricky, because of where the sister was seated, but we found a way to make it work and mom was able to be a part of such an important day for her daughter.
Wardrobe Mishaps
We were minutes away from pre-ceremony photos to take place. Any wedding planner will tell you this is a big deal as it relates to the timeline. The last few attendants were getting dressed when we were alerted that a bridesmaid and a groomsman were having a little trouble. We had to quickly figure out how to remedy these issues.
The bridesmaid’s dress had decided to no longer zip. Simultaneously, the groomsman’s shirt somehow didn’t have the holes needed for custom cufflinks. So, with the bride’s mother being a seamstress and us being planners with a bag full of safety pins, we jumped into action. There was no way we could replace a zipper in such a delicate dress, but we could make sure the dress appeared no different than the other bridesmaids’ dresses. As for the groomsman, after getting permission, his issue was nothing a blade, some thread, and a needle couldn’t handle. We were able to remedy the issues and jump right back on schedule.
We look at weddings a little different than most. Every detail that you deem important is important to us. But at the end of it all, you have to ask if whatever unexpected moment taking place cause you to not be married. If the answer is yes, then we have bigger fish to fry. However, if the answer is no, then we are going to move past it, together. You can plan for everything and still have something go left. We are there so you don’t have to deal with it on your own.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
