Preparing for how you will look in all of your bridal glory is super exciting. You want to be sure you make the most of your trials for makeup and hair. The best way to do this is to have ideas in my mind ahead of time as to what you want for your day. When making arrangements for your hair trial, be sure you look at the diversity of your chosen vendor. Your hair will be unique to you, just like every other aspect of your wedding. We have a few suggestions on what you can do to be sure you are well prepared.

Dress Style
The neckline of your dress matters to your hairstylist more than you can imagine. If you have not yet chosen your dress, you may want to wait on your hair trial. You can, by all means still do your hair trial. Just know it may prove to be a bit more back and forth than preferred. We would also suggest being open to different options. Your stylist can give you an idea of what certain styles look like and feel like together, while advising on best options to achieve your desired preference. Take photos of your dress and photos of the hairstyle you want along with you to the trial. Being as prepared as possible will not only help you maximize the time you have with the stylist, but it gives you the comfort needed in knowing your chosen stylist fully understands the assignment.
Veil Type
If you plan to wear a veil or some other type of adornment in your hair, your stylist will need to know. It would be even better if you have already purchased it. If you have it with you, your stylist can see how it is made and prepare accordingly for placing it in your hair. Some items have to be altered to fit your hair style and type, so the better prepared you allow your stylist to be for you big day the better your experience will be.

One Trial at a Time
Unless it is being done by the same person or in the same salon, try not to complete your hair and makeup trials on the same day. Hair and makeup are big deals. You want to focus on what is happening. If things don’t go well for one, it could jeopardize the experience of the other. Have you ever had something go wrong, and the experience was so bad that it ruined everything associated with it? Take on these adventures one at a time. You want to be fully engaged to ensure you get what you need for your wedding day.
Bonus
Be sure you are taking photos the entire day you get these services done. We often suggest taking your engagement photos with your makeup from your bridal trial, but we aren’t sure if taking your engagement photos in your wedding day hair style is as good of an idea as the aforementioned. But having something to look back at after the trial is done may prove beneficial. If you only rely on the memories your wedding planning brain can muster up, you may be disappointed.
Be sure you can give a description of your gown with inspiration. Make a point to take items you want to use with you. Lastly, do not schedule anything that could interfere with your experience. These should be top of mind when preparing for a great hair trial. We wish you all the best, and all the fun!
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
