Cheryl Dixon, Dixon’s Printing and Design – “I am with you from the save the dates to the thank you cards, and everything in between.”

Your wedding stationery is how you communicate with your wedding guests. Your stationery is involved from the announcement of your engagement to the thank you cards you send after the wedding. Could you imagine having conversations with everyone you plan to invite about every step before and during your wedding? Your stationery lays out the details of what to expect. We spoke with our favorite paper fairy and good friend, Cheryl Dixon of Dixon’s Printing and Design, a few questions. Read about what she needs a client to know before they schedule a consultation with her.
She said…
Know your overall budget…
We understand that you won’t have an idea of what you plan to spend in each area of your wedding. But once you have met with your wedding planner, you will know more about the possibilities of what certain things could cost.
Know your date & your venue
Not having your venue secured or a confirmed wedding date is something that will not allow you to move forward in your planning process. You cannot get much done with any vendor if you don’t know your wedding date. Your venue is equally important, simply because we cannot discuss possibilities for what you will need.
Know your style & color
If you don’t know your colors or whether or not you are planning to have a romantic, traditional, or a modern styled wedding, it will make the appointment more difficult to conduct. We will spend more time on you working through the initial ideas and lose time on talking about all your stationery needs and goals. This is where the importance of your wedding designer comes in. A wedding designer will help you sort through everything you want to see visually for your wedding, which will then help the appointment with your stationer be so much more productive.

Know your number of guests addresses
Yes, your stationer needs to know your number of guests expected. But more importantly, your stationer needs to know the number of addresses per your guest list. Think about it. One invitation can be sent to represent one person or four people from one address. This helps to determine a specific number of invitations needed.
Know when I should see you
It can be tempting to want to take care of every vendor a year ahead of your wedding. We applaud you if this is your goal. However, unless you are sending out save the dates, which should absolutely be done from 8 months to a year in advance, you don’t have to schedule that appointment yet. If you are doing save the dates, you should schedule a visit with your stationer after you have secured your venue. If you won’t need save the dates, you should plan your visit 6 months before your wedding day.
We truly appreciate our girl taking the time to inform our audience on all the things that will make an appointment with a stationer the most productive. To follow her you can visit the links below:
