When you start your wedding planning journey, you begin an adventure unlike any other in life. You are planning a special celebration to announce to the world that you have found the one that you no longer want to do life without. It is sentimental, and it is also a party. You are planning the best night of your life (thus far). You want to be sure you have selected entertainment that will set the tone for a night no one will forget. We have a few suggestions on where you should start with selecting your DJ.

Style
Style plays a huge part in your search for the best. Attire and setup are only a part of what you want to observe when considering what a professional DJ brings to the table. You want to think about the style of service as well. There are some DJs that move the crowd with the music, while some hit the dance floor and join in on the party. We are sure you aren’t looking for anyone who could possibly steal the show, but you do want someone who can deliver guidance and information throughout your wedding day on a certain level. The delivery of the entire package has to be in line with your style and the theme of your wedding day.
Level of performance
When you think about the type of atmosphere you want from the time your guests walk in until the time they leave, you will have to consider the level of performance your selection of DJs have. They are the voice that your guests will hear the entire day, especially if you are hiring them for both ceremony and reception. They are the person(s) that will need to gauge the crowd and keep them engrossed in the moments where you aren’t front and center. Most importantly, they must last through the end of the night, which is where they shine the most.
Professionalism
We mentioned earlier that the voice your guests will hear the most throughout the day will be your DJ’s. There is a certain tone you want to be sure your guests experience, and a great MC will possess the skills to engage, not only by the music they play but also by the words they speak. We aren’t suggesting a Harvard grad. However, if you are having a difficult time understanding them while on a phone call, there may also be a bit of trouble on the microphone.
Figuring out where you should start with selecting your DJ may not seem like a task at first glance, but it is something you want to handle with special care. You are putting the life of your party into this person’s hands. You want to be sure to give it the time and attention it deserves.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
