The initial process of planning a wedding is like getting a confetti bomb popped in your face. In this metaphoric scenario, your instinct might even be to pick up all the little pieces containing information for your wedding. Can you picture yourself attempting to hold in your hands pieces of confetti, each sharing steps you need to take in planning your wedding? Realistically, there are many areas of focus in wedding planning. One of the first areas couples are thrusted into is stationery. Stationery is your way of communicating to your guests. From initial details by way of save the dates and invitations, to thank you notes, stationery really helps. We want to help you start the process of planning out your wedding stationery.

Don’t go at it alone
The first suggestion we want to make is to not attempt to create your own wedding stationery. We aren’t against all of the different companies that allow you the capabilities of building pretty suites. We use those same sites ourselves from time to time. What we have seen happen is multiple couples end up with the same designs. Now, if you aren’t opposed to your wedding guests receiving the same design a different couple recently married sent, then go for it. However, if you want something that is customized specifically for your love story, don’t go at it alone. Hire a professional stationery designer. A professional stationery designer will have the skills to know how to pull certain aspects in specific to your love story and your style.

Decide what you need
The second suggestion is to decide what stationery items you will need. There are an insane number of items included in what you will need for your wedding. Stationery tells your guests all of the happenings without you having to speak directly to them all. Narrowing down what is needed will take some forethought, but it may save you a nice amount of redundant conversations.

Be creative
The third suggestion is to be creative. Someone had to think up the idea of using engagement photos on a photo board at the entrance of a wedding. Photo boards fall under the category of stationery and they are here to stay for awhile. Think about the two of you as a couple and what you love most about your relationship. If you are super social and love a good cocktail, create a signature drink or two for your cocktail hour. Then, have bar signs designed to showcase your style and special details. Talk with your stationery designer about how to customize details of your wedding day with the items they have to offer.

Your wedding stationery can really bring home all of the details you are wanting to communicate with your guests. Hiring a professional stationery designer helps ensure you get the best and most essential items for your wedding stationery. They can allow you to be truly creative with what you want for your day.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
