When you think of wedding days, you think first of “the moment.” That moment is usually the ceremony, which is what the wedding is ultimately about. If you want to truly make your wedding memorable, focus on your ceremony. Your ceremony is the one area that can take place without all of the other formalities and solidifies your actual marriage. Moreover, it is a chance to truly insert your personality and who you are into your wedding day. How? We are so glad you asked! Take a look below as we dive into why and how you can create your very own wedded experience.
Do almost anything, as long as the important stuff is done
Speak with your officiant about the things in your ceremony that will confirm your commitment to one another. You want to know the importance of the order of these things taking place. If there are things you can change to make more meaningful to who you are as a couple, do that. We had a couple insert the tasting of the elements during their ceremony. This was a visual representation of the ups and downs that can take place in a marriage. This was incorporated into their ceremony as another way to vow to one another for better or worse in front of their guests.
Laugh, cry, love…
Everyone in attendance to your wedding is there for you. This means they are connected to you in one way or another. They think you are funny, or sweet, or they adore your love story. Your being as much of who you are during your ceremony only adds to the experience for your guests and your memories of how amazing the day will be. Say your own vows. Get lost in one another and not in the step-by-step process of the actual ceremony. Laugh, cry, and love, in front of all of your guests.

All eyes, ears, and hearts are set on you
Your ceremony is the one time during your wedding day that everyone there is focused literally on you. This is another reason you should use your ceremony as a chance to make your wedding truly memorable. You can infuse your love stories into the ceremony during the reading of scriptures and the prayer. You can even add the gifting to one another’s parents to share levels of love and relationship already in place, or to grow towards. Thinking of those things that are truly unique to your love story and who you are as a couple is how you make your wedding your own.
Understanding which parts of your ceremony you can change or make your own is the start of creating a day that truly belongs to you. If you did none of the things we are talking about in the post, you can still have a beautiful and memorable wedding day. However, if you are on a search for something a little different consider taking in what was shared. Whatever you do, be sure you enjoy your wedding planning experience.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
