Cake tasting tips for being sure your wedding guests will love every bite.

One of the most difficult, yet fun decisions we see couples having to make during the planning process is deciding on the flavor of the wedding cake they want their guests to indulge in. It is one of the most talked about details of the wedding, so it is understandable as to why it would be something that is given so much thought. While contemplating flavors, you may think you have to choose something that is common, but may also be torn with wanting to be sure you include your own favorite flavors. To be honest with you, it is one of the best hard decisions you will have to make. But allow us to give you a little bit of comfort. There is no true way you can go wrong with cake. It’s cake!
The very first thing you should do is your homework. Vet the vendors you select for designing your wedding cake to be sure they have the capabilities to produce what you want. If flavor is at the very top of the list for you, be sure their clients go crazy for the taste of their cakes and not just the way they look. The more information you can find that align with your desires, the better.
If you have never had cake from the person you are hiring for this amazing and truly important assignment for your wedding day, you definitely want to inquire about their cake tasting process. You want to be sure they not only do the flavors you have decided you might like, but that you like the way it tastes yourself. It is also a great idea to bring an additional person (just one…) to the tasting. Now this does not mean that everyone will be well fed during the tasting, but you will have enough to make a sound decision. The pastry chef will more than likely still provide the same amount of samples as usual for their tasting and you will have to simply work out how those you bring will get a taste, but it isn’t a bad idea to bring someone you both trust to help balance the final decision on flavors.
Our final tip for preparing for a tasting is being sure you provide your pastry chef with inspiration. If they know what you want as far as both look and taste, as well as your budget, the number of guests, and color scheme, you can make the process of creating your wedding cake seamless. If there are some things you aren’t quite sure about, especially the budget and guest count, you won’t be able to finalize as many details ahead of time.
The details mentioned above are those we suggest you take special care in focusing on to be sure your experience is one of the best you have throughout the whole process. We would never steer you wrong, and if you happen to need a person to tag along for your cake tasting, give us a call. We are always in the mood for sugary treats.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
