Your wedding budget gives you the answer to what you can and cannot do for your wedding. Deciding on what you can afford to spend for your wedding is the beginning of it all. We know you won’t quite know what to expect as it relates to what things will cost, but you do know how much of your money you are willing to comfortably part with. We want to share with you suggestions on how you can make and stick to your wedding budget.
Making the wedding budget
When deciding on the budget for your wedding, you have to be sure to take in to account all you and your fiancé can spend. You also want to talk about any other people contributing to the bottom line. We feel this would also be a great time to share that when others share in the financial responsibility of your wedding, they can sometimes want some input. Our suggestion is to talk with all involved to get a finite number for their contribution and to get a great understanding of any strong opinions about any vendors to be hired. Understanding where contributors stand ahead of time gives you a chance to get in front of any discomfort, and allows you to determine the use and availability of funds at the start of it all.
Stick to it
Once you have decided on something, stop looking! Continuing to shop once you have confirmed the details in particular areas of your wedding planning will only make you want to make changes here and there. Those changes can amount to an unrecognized wedding. There will always be something more amazing if you keep looking. Just take confidence in knowing what you have chosen is perfect for you and move to the next item.

If you have to, scale back
Though we cannot tell you exactly how much of your budget will be spent on specific areas because every wedding is different, we can give you an idea of what to expect. We can share that you can expect to spend the majority of your budget on your venue, your food, and in some cases, your décor. Why? Your guests will need a space large enough to accommodate them, you will need to feed each of them, and regardless of what you use, every table will need a centerpiece. Not to mention the ambiance of the day comes from your decor. We know that travelling through the unknown can sometimes shake some things up for you. If you find that you overspend in one area, be sure to look at other categories to see where you can scale back.
Following the suggestions we have shared with you can only set you up for success. If you find you need more help, consider hiring a wedding planner. Wedding planners can help you get and keep track of the finances dedicated to your wedding while sharing suggestions on ways to achieve all of your goals.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
