Your wedding day is a huge event. Let’s be real…it’s a production. You can for sure have all of thoughts and details that you have dreamed of being a part of your celebration for as long as you can remember. Now, we would never suggest you go at wedding planning on your own. Wedding planners were created out of a need. But we do understand that there are times when you will have to do it on your own.
If this is your situation, we have some quick tips we suggest you keep top of mind while going through this journey.
Take frequent breaks!
Wedding planning is very detailed. There can be parts of your planning that will seem to be ever growing and you can easily find yourself not being able to locate the end of the task. For this reason, you will have to find a way to take frequent breaks. Make it a point to avoid conversation about the wedding during a time when you are not working on a task related to the planning. We know it will be hard at first, as every time someone sees you they will without pause ask how the planning is going. You can answer, but try to avoid deep details. We want you to be happy when you get the altar and not overwhelmed. Speaking of which…

Don’t overthink it!
We often suggest to our clients that they keep the main thing, the main thing. If you have taken the time to write down what you want for your wedding, that should be your focus. Whatever you want it to be can happen. When you begin to try and figure out the “right way” to do those desired items, you begin to take on more than needed. Everything in this life can be broken down to a simpler form. Why would your wedding planning be any different? Go back to the main thing, see if it aligns with what you are doing, adjust if needed, and keep it moving. Speaking of which…

Never, ever compare!
There will always be something greater, better, cuter, shinier, etc. All of that is a matter of perspective. Remember the list of things you took time to write down in the second point of this post. That’s what matters. Don’t get us wrong. There will be things you didn’t know you needed, and that’s okay. But determining the need for something based on the fact that someone else did it or how they did it will only get you lost. Keeping your eyes on your own paper, and being sure you focus on what you are doing for you and your soon-to-be is the only way you end up with your happily-ever-after.
So don’t stress. You don’t want to look up and realize you have not enjoyed any part of this process. But if you just cannot find your way through all of the loops, twists, and turns associated with the world of wedding planning, hire a planner. We want you to have a happy planning experience, plus, this is what we do!
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
