We decided to pick the brain of our photographer friend, Esmee Kyles of Incredibly Wee Photography. We just wanted her to share her perspective on wedding photography and the wedding day as a whole. We asked her 3 questions about the need, want, and gooey excitement of the wedding day. Take a look at what she shared below:

Top 3 needed before meeting with your photographer: Venue, Date, & Budget
Cannot do a contract without the venue, date, and budget. Even if you have a date in mind, if there is no venue there is no contract. The venue determines the date mostly because of their availability and can sometimes be very strict on changes. Your venue will also determine your commitments, and gives notice to the flexibility of what can be done regarding options for your photos outside of the ceremony and reception space.
Why should couples do an engagement session?
Engagement sessions are like a dress rehearsal for the wedding. Couples are really and cuddly, and able to joke and laugh freely. Additionally, there are not 200 people staring at you in that moment. It is seriously beneficial for the photographer as well. We pick up on what they like and don’t like. We see what you may be feeling self-conscious about, but may not communicate verbally. Plus it gives a sneak peek at how to handle the wedding day.

What’s your favorite part of the wedding day?
It’s a tie between photos of the couple getting ready and the first look. The photos of the couple getting ready are exciting because it is an opportunity to capture the bride seeing herself for the first time in her dress with makeup. Often her mom is there, and there is something about capturing that moment that warms my heart. We are there to record the excitement building for the groom with his closest friends, they are both nervous and relaxed, and for the moment just being with his boys. It really does set the tone for the rest of the day.
But with the first look, what other time can you do just that. An added plus is that this is alone time for the couple before they say “I do.” This time really allows the creativity to flow with the couple and makes for an even more beautiful experience, not only for the photos but for the wedding day.

Esmee has a wealth of knowledge to share and she loves what she does. What more could you want?! If you would like to see how she can add to your wedding day experience, you can find her information here.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
