We enjoy the beauty we get to bring to weddings through florals and design. Flowers and all of the many colors they come in can transform a room to any place in this world. With that, flowers can get a little expensive. There are ways you can save on the cost of your wedding flowers. We share a few suggestions of what you may be able to do to see a difference in the cost of your wedding flowers in this post.

Use seasonal blooms
Seasonal blooms are simply those blooms that are in season and available during the time you will need them. When you make a request for blooms that aren’t in season, you can pay much more than the usual cost for them, or perhaps won’t be able to get them at all. Peonies are one of the prettiest, but also most popular wedding flowers aside from roses. Peonies are also seasonal and are only available during the spring months from April through July. When a request for peonies is made out of season, we suggest a substitution of a rose. There are so many variations of roses that there is sure to be something beautiful that can fit the need.
Choose cost effective filler flowers
Large arrangements cover a huge amount of surface. When you have to cover surface, and cost is a factor, you have to use blooms that will give you the girth you need. The first and most used flower for this purpose is a hydrangea. Hydrangeas are large blooms and compliment any and every flower we have ever come into contact with. Another flower would be a rose. Not all roses are made equal, but a well-versed florist will know which ones to use to get the job done. Another option for covering surface would be greenery. If used properly, greenery takes nothing away from the look and feel of your desired design.

Repurpose your ceremony flowers
If you are stressed about your wedding décor and the amount of money you will not have on your honeymoon, you aren’t having the time of your life. If possible, you can use your ceremony backdrop as your backdrop to your cake or even your sweetheart table. This is an option that we use most often when it is needed because we want our couples to get the most out of what they desire for their wedding, a good time. You can also use your bridesmaids’ bouquets to add extra embellishment to your cake table. Whatever you chose to repurpose, be sure it is easy to maneuver. If it is something that has been constructed carefully, it may not be able to be moved, or the move may come at an additional cost.
Before you making final decisions, be sure you have a conversation with your designer about your options.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
