You want to enjoy your wedding planning process as a bride and avoid the ever dreadful feeling of being happy your wedding is over. Yeah, I can’t believe I just said that either, but that is a thing. We hear horror stories all of the time from people who tried to do it all on their own. We want more for you. Here are some tips on how you can avoid some of the stress associated with wedding planning.

1. It is never too early to get started …but budget first
There are so many details that are involved with planning your wedding, and they all hinge on you determining what you want as a wedding couple. You will need to create a budget, decide on a guest list, and figuring out those things that matter most to you. These are things and ideas that only the two of you can answer. So even if you aren’t able to begin working with your ideal vendors yet, you can still get started. It is never too early to get started.
2. Keep it simple
If you are not into all of the bells and whistles of a grand ball as your wedding day, don’t do it. Don’t feel the need to meet a standard of wedding day demands. You are the standard when it comes to your wedding day. Being able to allow who you are as a couple shine through will be all of the wedding day magic you need for your perfect fairytale.
3. Trust your vendors
If you have hired wedding day vendors to deliver what you have dreamed up for your wedding day, and you have vetted them properly, then you should trust them to do their job. Worrying over whether or not they are capable of the task is a waste of time and energy.
4. Cut the things you aren’t attached to
If you don’t want to have a flower girl and a ring bearer, don’t have a flower girl and a ring bearer. If you don’t want to have a wedding cake, you don’t have to. Weddings are about the union of two people and their families. If whatever you are not attached to as it relates to your wedding, and cutting that particular function does not stop you from officially getting married, you don’t have to do it. You also don’t have to answer to anyone who isn’t you or your fiancé about why you aren’t doing whichever formality you have decided to forego.
5. Enjoy the process
This day will be one of a kind…a once in a lifetime event. There are no do overs. To be sure you are fully engaged, you will have to practice letting some things go. If you do it as you plan, it will be a much easier process on your wedding day. The most important thing on your wedding day is the happiness of you and your soon-to-be. Nothing else matters.
We really hope we have shared some things you can put into practice to ensure you get to enjoy your wedding planning and more importantly your wedding day.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
