I am one of those people who treats fur babies like little humans. They are so smart and they have little personalities and love unconditionally. You cannot help but love on them. If you have decided to have your fur baby play a part in your wedding day, there are some things you may want to do to best prepare.
Dog friendly location
If you have already selected your wedding venue, or if you have a venue that you have fallen in love with, you definitely need to have a conversation with the venue manager on the allowances and restrictions as it relates to the inclusion of your furry friend. Facilities with carpet may not be as open to the idea as those without. Even if the location has carpet, they may still allow it. There could possibly be additional fees for cleaning associated. You will just need to ask.
Think about the temperament of your pet
Before you commit to allowing your fur baby to be a part of your wedding day, seriously consider whether or not it is a good idea. Much like we hear couples talk about how their little 2-year-old flower girl will do when it is show time, we can imagine the same conversation as it relates to your 4 legged love. There are schools you can take your pet to, but understand it may not be that simple. The timing could possibly not line up with when you need them to be ready for the big day.

Hire a sitter
We strongly suggest hiring a sitter to care for your fur baby on wedding day. You cannot be the person responsible for tending to the needs of your pet simply because you won’t have the time. This will be a location your pet wouldn’t have ever been in and he or she will be around a large number of people, some they may not know. You don’t know how they will react to these new circumstances. An experienced sitter, especially one well-versed in weddings and events, will know how to care for your pet during a time such as this. For more information on the type of sitter we are talking about, check our Wagnolia Bells Wedding Day Pet Service. We had the opportunity to work with them and they were truly attentive to Homer as his humans renewed their vows.
We hope these tips have given you value as you make plans to include all of your family in your upcoming nuptials, especially your furry ones. Be sure you come back for more tips like these, and let us know if you have some things you want to know more about. We are here to help.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
