When setting the start time for your ceremony, you have to consider a number of things. Of course, the circumstances around your wedding will differ given the type and length of the ceremony you are having. But the idea of taking in all the factors for preparing for your ceremony should remain the same. We want to talk about a few things in today’s blog post that should be considered when planning your ceremony time to help avoid costly mistakes.
Consider The Time of Sunset
The time of sunset is something you want to take into consideration if you plan to have an outdoor ceremony. You can search the usual time for sunset around your specific date and plan for an hour and a half before as the start of your ceremony. Your photos will look absolutely amazing and your photographer will appreciate you.
Consider Access to the Venue
You want to know the earliest you can get into the facility you have chosen for your wedding, but you also want to know how much time your vendors will need to setup for the services you have hired them to do. One of the worst things that can happen on wedding day is for all of your wedding vendors to ascend all at once with a very small amount of time to setup, simply because you weren’t aware of what they needed or the timeframe they should be able to work in.

Consider Traffic
If at all possible, think it through from the perspective of your wedding guests. If you happen to have your wedding on a weekday, there will be five o’clock traffic. No matter how you plan for this, if your wedding is during a high traffic time, your guests are either going to arrive early or late. You will have to decide on which you would prefer, possible late guests or a different start time for your ceremony.
Bonus: Consider Not Having the Ceremony Too Early
If your ceremony is set to start too early in the day, your wedding vendors may decide to charge you more. Hear me out. If your wedding starts at 10am and you have hair and makeup scheduled for the day not only for you, but for your bridal party, and it takes 45 minutes to an hour per face (not to mention time for hair), think about what time your makeup artist will have to start. Now, if your makeup artist and hair stylist are okay with this, then by all means have your day! But this is absolutely something you should take into consideration and discuss in advance.
We hope we have shared some helpful tips for you. No matter what you decide to do, as long as you have thought through all of the specifics, you will have a beautiful day.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
