from 6 months to your wedding date
Last week we shared with you our suggested timeline for securing specific vendors starting a year out from your wedding date. We only covered the first 4 to 5 months, so we are back again to share the remaining vendors within the year. Some vendors are in high demand and some vendors only take on a specific number of weddings per year.
So, if you are the type of bride that has had your eye on a particular venue or vendor since before becoming engaged, you are going to want to be sure you pay close attention to this timeline. In case you missed it, here is the link to last week’s post for the first part of this series.
6 months from your wedding date

Videographer
Your wedding videographer plays a crucial role in capturing the wedding day. They bring so much life back to your wedding day because you not only see the emotions, you can actually hear it.
Rentals
Anything not provided by your venue or vendors is a rental. This is not only true for you, but for other couples getting married as well. We aren’t saying you will need to rent an insane amount of items, unless you are building from scratch (…and if you are please be sure you have already hired your wedding planner). But if you have rentals you will need, be sure to reserve them. You don’t want to have to deal with an issue of a lack of supplies for creating your dream.
MUA & Hairstylist
Because we know being absolutely gorgeous on your wedding day is not up for debate, you want to lock down the team that will be enhancing your beauty at least 5 to 6 months before your wedding if not sooner. We aren’t saying that if you don’t you won’t have anyone. What we do know is that if you aren’t as familiar with the artist responsible for your makeup and hair, you will want to have time to become really comfortable with them.
Event Coordinator
If you didn’t hire a planner to walk through this journey with you, this would be a great time to hire an event coordinator. We personally do not offer “day of” wedding assistance, because we feel it does not exist. No one can come on board and handle your wedding day with excellence the day of or the day before your wedding. With that, you do not want to wait until you think you are just about ready to walk down the aisle to bring someone on board.
4 months from your wedding
Stationer
Now is the time to hire the person that will be handling all things communication. Anything that will have information for your guests to adhere to will be the responsibility of your stationer. Any detail from signage to additional details regarding design can fall under this area. We hope you are fans of pretty paper, because that will make this area that much more fun.
Bartender
You can hire a bartender any time from now until a couple of months before your wedding, but the closer you get to your wedding the more items will magically appear on your task lists. Hiring your bartender now will allow you to test your ideas on signature cocktails and purchase the necessary items needed for your bar to run smoothly.
Officiant
We suggest hiring your officiant in the window of 4 months from your wedding because some officiants have certain rules and requirements you will want to be aware of. Some of them even require some counseling, and you will have to plan to be available if this is the officiant you want to be a part of your ceremony.
2 months to 3 months
So, we know that at this point in the timeline that we have suggested pretty much all of the vendors that would naturally be on your radar. We did that on purpose. You shouldn’t be hiring vendors during the last few months of your wedding. This is the time you want to use to finalize all of the happenings in every area of the day.
We hope we have shared details that have given you plenty to think about and allow you to have a very happy and successful wedding planning experience.
Until next time…
be sweet & happy planning!
